Two houses were razed to the ground when a fire broke out in Gangaw township, Magwe Region in the morning of April 22 from an overheated electric stove, said the Magwe Region Fire Services Department.

The owner of the electric stove had gone out of the home while the stove was on, causing it to overheat. A table cloth and oil-dregs nearby caught fire from the stove, leading to a full blaze, according to a statement by the Fire Services Department.

Damages were valued at about K3.95 million. Police are investigating the owner of the electric stove under penal code 285.
